Where should I keep my snake plants at Home?

Snake plants are the most tolerant and versatile indoor plants. You have purchased a new plant and don't know where to keep it at home. It may be a daunting task to find the right place for a snake plant. This plant has specific needs. Choose a spot that gets enough indirect light exposure.

Snake plants need moderate to high temperatures and moisture levels to thrive. This plant is mildly toxic so keep it away from your children and pets. Snake plants can tolerate unfavorable conditions for a long time but don't neglect them beyond the limit otherwise they might die too.


The placement of the snake plant

Keep these factors in your mind while opting for a spot for your snake plant. This plant is adaptable to a variety of conditions. Choosing the right place for snake plants is necessary to remain healthy and Bushy.


Light

Light is an essential element for any plant and it is true with a snake plant also. Plants can handle all kinds of lighting conditions but they need light to thrive. Don't place the plant in the direct sun. It can cause brown spots on leaves and they can also burn. Snake plants need filtered, indirect light throughout the day. 


Keep the plant moist from time to time. Indirect light will give you a happier growing and healthy snake plant. Snake plants also can survive in shady areas and the low light of a corner. But it will not grow so much indoors and the leaves may also drop and stretch.


Keep your snake plant in the south, east, or west-facing windows and place the plant a few feet approx 6 to 10 feet away from the window to avoid direct sun exposure. Keep the snake plants under the shade while placing them outdoors otherwise, they will get a sunburn. You can also use curtains for indirect filtered light. 


Humidity

Snake plants can tolerate low to high humidity levels which makes them excellent indoor plants. Don't mist the leaves of the snake plants to increase humidity. The leaves of Snake plants don't like to be wet. Snake plants will handle high-quality levels but don't overwater them.

 

You can also use a humidifier to maintain a moderate humidity level.

The moderate humidity level neither too low nor too high is best for succulents like snake plants. 


Temperature

Snake plants can tolerate a wide range of temperatures and a variety of conditions as they are succulents. The temperature between 65 degrees Fahrenheit to 68-degree Fahrenheit is suitable for Snake plants although they can grow in dry and hot environments also. 


But don't push them to unfavorable temperature conditions for a long time otherwise they might suffer. Don't leave your snake plant in the temperature below 55 degrees Fahrenheit outdoors. Consistent low temperatures can cause scars on the leaves of snake plants. Preferably, keep your snake plant indoors.


Don't place snake plants near radiators, vents, or other heating systems during winter to raise the temperature level. It can burn the leaves of snake plants and also can make them too dry. You can place snake plants a few feet away from these heating systems so that they can feel the warmth but not heat.



Some common spots


Filtered light helps the snake plants to maintain their lustrous leaves. You can use sheer curtains to filter the direct sunlight. If your window gets high and density of light throughout the day then you do not keep the snake plant in this window. Keep away the snake plant from the window so that it cannot get direct light and you can keep the window open full day. 


There is no hard and fast rule to keep your plant but snake plants prefer the east-facing window for sun exposure. During the winter season, you can keep it outdoors so that it can get more light. If you are keeping it near the window in winter then make sure leaves don't touch the window as The leaves of the plant might get cold.


Don't keep your snake plant near cold drafts and direct sun. Snake plants are mildly toxic to humans and can cause swelling, gastronomical reactions, numbness on the tongue, and skin irritation so if you have children or pets then be cautious while placing a snake plant in your home.
